Facilities
At Westville Pre-Primary School, professionally qualified and highly experienced teachers offer a child-centred environment facilitating learning-through-play.
The curricula is designed to ensure age appropriate cognitive skills, general knowledge and life skills. There are also opportunities for our pupils to be exposed to music, drama, science, geography and maths.
The school offers an extensive range of modern educational and play equipment. Both indoor and outdoor activities are geared to encourage and develop creativity, social interaction and physical development.
During free play the children can choose to play in any one of our four areas, garden, creative, fantasy or cognitive areas. Free play is very important for stimulating their imaginations, teaching them social skills and how to interact in group situations.
The outside play area includes extensive jungle gyms, a sandpit, cycle tracks, mini-sports field and covered play areas. The outside space is well maintained with grassed areas and tree-shaded spots for play. The children have access to two wheeler bikes, tricycles, wagons, scooters and plastic push-bikes. There is also a large array of outdoor equipment including soccer nets, netball hoops, swing ball, stilts, balancing equipment, mini gym equipment, hula hoops, bean bags, balls etc. In addition to all of the aforementioned we also have a variety of sensopathic and water play spaces available.
Activities indoors include creative activities such as painting, box construction, cutting, drawing, play dough, sticking. Dolls, dress up, kitchen, block building etc. provide the bases for imaginative play in our fantasy room. Our cognitive area is fully equipped with a range of teacher directed games, puzzles and an extensive library.
At mid-morning the children are provided with a healthy snack which includes sandwiches, slices of fruit or vegetables and water.
After-Care facility (12:00 – 17:00) run by Aunty Gill is also offered at an additional cost. Please contact Gill directly on gill@westvillepps.co.za to discuss fees etc.
Westville Pre-Primary has a busy calendar of events each term which bring the children and their families together with fun and exciting activities such as art exhibitions, a fun day, concerts and many more. These activities are always filled with excitement and anticipation for the children as well as enjoyment for their families.

Aftercare
Aftercare is independently run by Gill Tarr who has been part of the WPPS “family” since 1992.
Aftercare provides a safe, secure and loving environment for the children who need the longer day at school. “Aunty” Gill is assisted by very capable ladies and the children often ask to be an “Aftercare Kid”
Comments from parents:
“Thank You so much Gill for your assistance with Bridget. She just adores you and so do we! We really appreciate all that you have done and the care and concern you show her.”
“Thank You for being such a wonderful lady and for looking after Stuart at Aftercare on those odd days when I’ve needed to fetch him a little later. He loves Aftercare and often asks if he can go for longer!”
“Words can’t adequately express just how special you are to us and WPPS! Your love and kindness has never gone unappreciated. That you so much for everything you have done for myself, Brandon and Felicity. You are simply amazing!”
“Thank You for all that you do for all the little ones at WPPS. We are truly blessed to have you take care of our children.”
